To-dos & Tasks
You don't need a separate task list. Write a to-do item in any Card and it is already a task in Schedule, the Right Panel's to-do list and calendar (⌘⇧D). The Card stays where the work is; Schedule shows everything that's due, from every Card.
Example: in your "Trip to Kyoto" Card you write Book the ryokan as a to-do with a Tomorrow chip. It shows up in Schedule under Tomorrow. Tick it there, and the box in the Card is ticked too.
Make a to-do a task
- Start a to-do item: type
[]or pick To-Do List from the/menu. - Type the task, e.g. "Send draft to Mia".
- Give it a due date: type
/and pick Tomorrow, or Date and then click the chip to choose a day. Inside a to-do item, Date and Person sit at the top of the/menu. - Give it an owner: type
/and pick Person.
How Lino reads a task
- The first date in the item is the due date. Items without a date go under No Date in Schedule.
- A person in the item's own line is who the task is for. Chips in an indented sub-item belong to that sub-item.
- Indented to-do items become sub-tasks of the item above.
- Ticking the checkbox in the Card or in Schedule marks the task done in both places.
- Setting the date or person in Schedule writes the chip back into the Card.
The date and person chips are the same ones you can put anywhere in text — see References → Dates and people.
Tasks from Tables
A Table can feed Schedule too: each row becomes a task, with a date column as the due date. See Tables in the Schedule.
