v0.1.4 - Alias & Variable
New Feature: Alias & Variable
To make Lino think the way you do, we've solved two of the most common headaches in knowledge management:
1. Alias: "Many Names, One Idea"
The Problem: You have a concept called XR, but you often write Extended Reality. You want them to point to the same card.
-
Syntax: XR / Extended Reality
-
The Magic: Lino treats them as a single entity. Whether you type "XR" or "Extended Reality" in your notes, the Potential Concept detector will find and link both to the same card.
2. Variable: "One Name, Many Contexts"
The Problem: In your thesis, Space means "Architectural Void," but in another note, it might mean "Outer Space." They are totally different concepts.
-
Syntax: Space (Architecture) vs. Space (Astronomy)
-
The Magic: These are treated as two unique, independent concepts. No more confusing your design theories with rocket science.
How to Use
Simply type into your Card Heading or Concept Bar:
- Simple:
- Concept / Alias
- Concept (Variable)
- Mixed:
- Concept / Alias1 / Alias2 (Variable)
- Example1:
- Apple / Apple Inc. (Company)
- Apple (Fruit)
- This creates two variables that are independent of each other.
- Example2:
- UX / User Experience
- This creates two aliases (UX and User Experience) and assigns both the labels Design and Tech.
- UX / User Experience
Automation Behind the Scenes
- Smart Formatting: Don't worry about spaces or brackets. Lino automatically cleans up your input into a standard: A / B (var).
- Uniqueness Check: Every concept-variable combination is unique. If you duplicate a card, Lino adds a variable (copy) to keep your index clean.
- Heading Sync: Change the first line of your card, and the Concept index updates instantly.
v0.1.3 - Whiteboard
New Feature: Whiteboard
Sometimes, you just want to doodle, sketch, or express an idea with visuals. Whiteboard is a small area on your canvas where you can let your creativity flow.

v0.1.2 - The Beginning
The first version released to the public.
Let me list the basic concepts and features of Lino:
- Canvas: An infinite, zoomable whiteboard for organizing your notes, artifacts, and ideas. Create canvases for any purpose—projects, courses, books, travel plans—and arrange content freely.
- Artifacts:
- Cards: Markdown-powered note cards with support for images and links. Cards can have a Concept—a unique, reusable title shown in the top-left corner. The same concept can be referenced across multiple cards.
- Images & Links: Paste or drag-and-drop images and links directly onto your canvas.
- Connections: Any artifact can connect to any other. The connection badge (top-right) shows link count—drag from it to create relationships, or click to view all connections.
- Reusable Across Canvases: Every artifact is unique and can appear in multiple canvases. Nothing you collect is ever siloed.
- Artifact Gallery: Browse all your created artifacts in one place.
- Workspace: A collection of canvases representing a field of work. Create multiple workspaces to separate different domains.
- Daily Drafts: A built-in workspace for daily schedules or uncategorized items.
- Productivity Tools:
- Schedule: Automatically aggregates tasks from all cards and canvases into a single view for easy tracking.
- Voice Record: Voice recording for lectures, meetings, or spontaneous ideas.
- Ambiance & Personalization:
- Immersive Backgrounds: Animated environments (like rain) with sound for focused work.
- Theme Color: Personalize Lino with your favorite accent color.
- Dark Mode: Manual toggle or system-synced.
- Storage & Sync:
- Local First: All data stays on your device.
- Cloud Sync: Seamlessly sync across devices with one account.
