1. About this policy
Lino is operated by Boulesis LLC, a company based in the United States. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website or use the Lino desktop application and related online services.
For questions or privacy requests, contact service@lino.one.
2. Information we process
Account information and preferences
We process your email address, account identifiers, sign-in information, and the profile details and preferences you provide. Lino currently supports Google sign-in, through which we may receive your email address, display name, profile image, and account identifier.
You may also provide your role, intended uses, and how you found Lino in an optional onboarding questionnaire. These answers help personalize your experience and help us understand demand for the product. Profile information and preferences can sync with your account and be included in AI context. When usage statistics are enabled, standard questionnaire selections may be sent before you sign in; free-text questionnaire answers are not included in that statistics event.
Your content and cloud sync
We process the text, images, files, and related records you create or import to provide storage, synchronization, retrieval, display, and the other features you use.
Lino stores working data on your device. Signing in automatically enables cloud sync for content and settings covered by synchronization. Cloud sync cannot currently be switched off separately while signed in. Locally stored content may also leave your device when you use cloud AI or other online features.
AI interactions
We process your messages, relevant context, and generated responses to provide AI features. Context may include your content, conversation history, profile, AI memories, and file contents or tool results accessed within the permissions you grant. Profile information and memories may be used in later requests to provide continuity and personalization.
When enabled, autocomplete or automatically running AI features may send requests as you edit or as tasks run, without a separate send action each time. Conversations and related records can be stored locally and synced with your account. We also process model names, usage quantities, timing, and execution status to operate the service and manage usage limits.
Feedback and support
We process ratings, explanations, contact details, and content you submit to investigate issues, respond to requests, and improve Lino. A thumbs-up on an AI reply sends the rating and a related conversation excerpt. A thumbs-down lets you add a note and choose whether to share the excerpt; sharing is selected by default and can be deselected.
Shared excerpts may contain your messages, AI responses, and tool names, including any personal information or file excerpts in those messages. Clicking a submitted rating again retracts it and deletes the feedback record and attached note and conversation from the feedback store. Backup copies expire under the backup schedule described below.
3. Usage statistics and website information
We collect feature usage and operational events to understand adoption, diagnose problems, and improve the product. These include application version, operating system, language and time zone, event timestamps, operation types, counts, durations, status, and associated random identifiers. Ordinary usage events do not include your content text, titles, image contents, link addresses, or chat messages. Feedback you submit is handled separately as described above.
A random installation identifier connects events from the same installation, including events before and after sign-in. Signed-in events may also be associated with your account. These statistics are therefore not fully anonymous.
Usage statistics are enabled by default. You can turn them off in Settings → Data & Import → Share usage statistics. This stops new statistics from being recorded and clears the active local engine’s unsent statistics queue. It does not recall requests already sent or automatically delete historical records. The setting applies to the current device; it does not disable cloud sync, authentication, necessary AI usage accounting, or security processing.
Our website records page visits, downloads, referral and campaign information, browser and device information, and approximate location such as country, region, and city. Website analytics use a daily changing identifier for deduplication rather than storing the raw IP address in those analytics records. This analytics mechanism does not store a visitor identifier in cookies or browser local storage. Hosting, delivery, and security providers may nevertheless receive IP addresses and retain request or security logs.
The website and application also use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies for sign-in, settings, and preferences. You can manage browser storage through your browser settings; removing necessary storage may sign you out or affect functionality. External websites and resources accessed through Lino may use their own tracking technologies, which are not controlled by Lino’s usage statistics switch.
4. AI providers and connected services
Lino sends the messages and context needed for cloud AI requests through our backend and OpenRouter to model providers. Providers may vary with the model, plan, and service availability. OpenRouter states that it does not use inputs or outputs for model training. We have disabled routing to providers that permit training on these inputs and outputs, using OpenRouter’s provider data-policy controls.
No training does not mean no retention. Providers may retain information to deliver the service, monitor abuse, or meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the provider and applicable arrangements. See OpenRouter’s data handling information and provider policies.
If we plan to use your content for model training or fine-tuning, we will explain the data involved, the purposes, and your choices before doing so, and obtain any consent required by law.
When you import files, connect folders, or authorize tools, Lino processes the file names, paths, contents, and other information needed for those operations. Content read by AI may be included in cloud requests. Services you choose to connect may receive information according to the functions and permissions you use and are also subject to their own privacy policies.
Searching for images or GIFs, opening websites, and loading remote resources can disclose search terms, resource requests, IP addresses, and technical information to the relevant providers. Current resource services include Wikimedia Commons, Openverse, and GIPHY.
5. When we share information
We provide relevant information to service providers and other recipients as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including:
- Cloud database, authentication, and storage providers, including Supabase, for accounts, storage, and sync.
- OpenRouter and model providers for AI processing.
- Website hosting, file delivery, update, and security providers to operate and protect the service.
- External resources and connected services you use, and support providers where needed to handle your requests.
We do not sell personal information or provide it to third parties for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations or valid legal process, or as lawfully necessary to protect users and the service. Information may also transfer in a merger, acquisition, or business transfer, with notice as required by applicable law.
Lino does not currently accept payments. If we introduce paid services, we will explain the payment provider and related information processing before purchase and update this policy where necessary.
6. Retention and deletion
We determine retention based on the information’s purpose, your relationship with us, and legal requirements. Account details, synced content, conversations, and memories are retained as needed to provide your account and services, subject to deletion operations and requests. Statistics and technical records are retained for product analysis, troubleshooting, security, and usage accounting; feedback and support records are retained as needed to investigate and follow up on issues. We assess continued need and delete or appropriately anonymize information that is no longer needed, except where retention is legally required or necessary for resolving disputes.
Lino creates daily local backups and keeps the latest seven copies. Our servers are backed up daily, with backups retained for seven days. After data is deleted from the primary system, existing server backup copies may remain until the corresponding backups expire. This backup period is not a retention limit for active account data or other records.
You can request account or personal information deletion by emailing service@lino.one. Deleting cloud data does not automatically remove local backups, exported files, or copies already held by third parties. Uninstalling Lino may not remove all local data; contact us if you need help clearing it.
7. Your choices and rights
You can use available product controls to manage your profile, content, and AI memories, disable usage statistics, and retract AI feedback. Contact service@lino.one to request access, correction, deletion, a copy of your information, or account deletion.
Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to data portability, restriction of or objection to processing, withdrawal of consent, an appeal of our response, and a complaint to a supervisory authority. We may request reasonably necessary information to verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority. We respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any refusal and available next steps. Withdrawing consent does not affect lawful processing before withdrawal. We do not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Security and processing locations
We use encrypted network connections, authentication, and access controls to protect information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Cloud sync and AI involve server-side processing; we do not describe these services as end-to-end encrypted.
Lino’s cloud data storage and processing are located in the United States. If you use Lino from another country, relevant information is transferred to the United States. Third-party AI processing locations depend on the providers and arrangements used. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we implement the required arrangements. Contact service@lino.one for information about recipients, locations, and applicable safeguards.
9. Regional information and age requirements
Where European Economic Area or United Kingdom data protection law applies, our legal bases depend on the purpose: performing our contract for necessary account and service processing; complying with legal obligations; legitimate interests in security, troubleshooting, and service improvement where permitted and balanced against your rights; and consent where required. This policy does not limit additional rights under applicable local law.
Lino is intended for people aged 18 and older and is not directed to children. If we learn that we have collected information from someone below this age requirement, we will investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion. Please contact us if you believe a minor has provided information to us.
10. Updates and contact
We may update this policy as features, providers, practices, or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and communicate material changes through appropriate website notices, in-app notices, or email. Where new consent is legally required, we will obtain it before the relevant processing begins.
